"NEW FOR 2018" REGISTER FOR PARK CLASSES, ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS on-line
You can now register for park activities and programs from the comfort of your home or work. Simply go to the "Town of Merrillville" website and click on the top right, "I Want To" and click register for park activities. You can now register for classes and pay from the convenience of your own home. (You must have previously registered with us and given us your e-mail address. Your e-mail address is your username and your household number in our system is your temporary password).
Pruzin Community Center Rental Information
The room that we hold our program activiities during the week is available to rent on the weekends. For rules and regulations and all rental information please see our Rental & Rules Brochure or visit our Documents Page.
Pruzin Community Center Activities
We have several activities for adults. Mondays we have Yoga from 9:30-10:45 am, Beginner Salsa Dance from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Dance Fitness Fun from 6:30-7:30 pm. Tuesdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30am. Wednesdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Phitt Ball from 9:15-10am, Ballroom Dance from 10:30-11:30am Yoga from 12-1:15pm. Thursdays we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30am, Bunco on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10:30am-2:30pm. Fridays we have our Senior Luncheons with Speakers on the 2nd Friday of each month. We also have a Nutrition Program led by a student from Purdue University, that runs for 6 weeks at a time. We change the day of the week after each 6 week session. Fees for the various programs can be found in our Brochure on the Documents page, or you can stop in to the Pruzin Community Center and pick up the individual registration forms.
Merrillville Parks Department ADA Transition Plan
The Town of Merrillville strives to assure that pursuant to the Americans with Disbailities Act (ADA), the Town of Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department is commited to identifying, updating and/or renovatiing all public parks to comply with the ADA and ABA (Architectural Barriers Act). It is our commitment to the residents of the Town of Merrillville that we will dedicate $75,000 annually with Community Capital Development Funds improving accessibility within our parks over a five year time period, complying with the guidelines set forth with the United States Access Board and standards for accessible design.
Strive to enhance the quality of life of Merrillville citizens by expanding availability of leisure and recreational services and promoting a clean and healthy environment.
