Public Meeting
We would like to invite you to attend our first Public meeting for 2010-2024 Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
All residents are invited to provide their input on the current and future needs and activities for the Parks Department.
Please come to this meeting and help plan the future of Merrillville's parks.

Pruzin Community Center Rental Information
The room that we hold our program activities during the week is available to rent on the weekends. For rules and regulations and all rental information, with pictures, please visit our Documents Page (click Documents on your left).  All rentals must be done in person at the Pruzin Community Center 5750 Tyler St. Merrillville, IN 46410, a minimum of 14 days in advance, Security required rentals need a full 21 days advance reservation.  Phone calls are for inquiry only.  All reservations are on a first come, first served basis.  All reservations must be done in the current year.  No exceptions.  Summer dates go fast, usually by the end of February.  We cannot hold a date without FULL payment and a Signed Agreement.


Pruzin Community Center Activities

Remember: 1) You must sign up no later than the week before each new session.  2) All programs are held at the Pruzin Community Center unless stated otherwise. 3) Refunds are only granted for Medical reasons with a Doctor's note.  Refunds will NOT be granted for schedule conflicts, vacations, special events, trips or other reasons beyond our control.  We will grant refunds if we have to cancel a program, event or trip.  To Keep Programs Going - Register Early, Get Your Friends to Come Along, Call or e-mail us if you have specific questions or have trouble registering on-line.  (Doctor releases require a minimum of 6 weeks before returning to a program AFTER you have been released). We do have Gift Certificates available for $40 for that "Special Someone" to use towards any program we offer. (Gift Certificates cannot be use towards Facility Rentals).

Monday Daytime we have Yoga from 9:30-10:45 am, Pinochle from 11:30-2:30 pm
Monday Evenings Youth Karate from 5:15-6:15 pm 
Tuesday Daytime we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9 am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30 am,
Useful Spanish from 11:30 am-12:30 pm
Tuesday Evenings
Get Fit Dance from 6:30-7:30 pm  
Wednesday Daytime we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9 am, Phitt Ball from 9:15-10 am,
Ballroom Dance from 10:30-11:30 am, Yoga from 12-1:15 pm
Wednesday Evenings Ballroom Dance from 6:30-7:30 pm, Mindful Movement from 7:45-8:45 pm 
Thursday Daytime we have Enhanced Senior Fitness from 8-9 am, Senior Morning Aerobics from 9:30-10:30 am,
Purdue University's 6 week Nutrition Program from 1-2 pm
Thursday Evenings Youth Karate from 5:15-6:15 pm, Adult Self-Defense from 6:30-7:30 pm
Friday Daytime we have our Senior Luncheons with Speakers on the 2nd Friday of each month with games to follow from 11 am-12:30 pm

 Fees for the various programs can be found by stopping in the Pruzin Community Center and picking up the individual registration forms, or you can make your payments by clicking on any of the blue program names and download a mail-in copy of any registration form to pay by check, or to pay by Credit Card visit our Registration Page above - and if you are a current customer you will be in our registration system and if you have provided us with an e-mail you will be able to register for a program on-line using the tab above: I Want To: and then click: Register for a Park Activity.  On that page you will also be able to view our Calendar for all activities at the Pruzin Community Center.  Remember to keep a program going we must meet our minimum at least 1 week before the activity begins!  Please note, that if the Merrillville Public School are closed due to weather safety issues, the Pruzin Community Center will cancel classes for that day, not to be confused with schools on a delay.  That will not affect our classes.
(If you have not previously registered through us, or have not given us a current e-mail address, you can e-mail us a copy of your Driver's License with a phone number and we will put you in our system and e-mail you back your temporary username and password.)

Pruzin Community Center Trips
Don't miss out by waiting until the last minute.
Our Las Vegas Trip has been cancelled due to low enrollment.  We will post here if we plan another trip for this year.

The Town of Merrillville strives to assure that pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Town of Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department is committed to identifying, updating and/or renovating all public parks to comply with the ADA and ABA (Architectural Barriers Act).  It is our commitment to the residents of the town that we will continually improve accessibility within our parks complying with the guidelines set forth with the United States Access Board and Standards for accessible design.
