| The Ross Township Fire Service is dedicated to serving our community in the fastest and most efficient manner possible. However, during certain natural disasters that may not be as easy as originally planned. That is why we are reaching out to the Merrillville business sector for winter emergency assistance.
Although our fire apparatus is quick to respond in most emergencies, heavy snow will always impede our progress. Many Merrillville residents may remember the blizzard we experienced in March of 1998 during which a mass rescue was required, in a location that we were unable to access by standard vehicles.
The Ross Township Fire Service Disaster Planning Officer, Thomas E. Westbury, is compiling a list of all-terrain Vehicles (ATV's) and/or snowmobiles that may be available, if the need should arise.
If you or your business, would be willing to assist please call the Ross Township Fire Service Office at 219.769.0004. |
