Information Required for an Improvement Location Permit |
| |
Delay or denial of permit applications can be avoided by providing plans, specifications, and supporting data, sufficiently clear and complete to show in detail that the proposed work will comply with all building and zoning requirements of Town of Merrillville. |

A detailed plot plan must be provided, drawn to scale, showing the following information:
- House address
- Dimensions and bearings of properly lines.
- Name &/or number of adjoining roads & highways.
- Indicate right-of-way lines and widths of roadways.
- Show front. side, & rear setback lines.
- Location of driveway(s).
- Outilne & dimensions of existing structure(s). (Indicate existing)
- Outline and dimensions of proposed structure(s). (Indicate “proposed”)
- Distances between lot lines and existing structure(s).
- Distances between existing and proposed structure(s).
- Location of septic system, water well, or sewer and waterlines. Indicate closest distance to lot lines and structure(s).
- Indicate flow of drainage using arrows.
- Finished elevation for all property corners, perimeter grades at all building corners, pavement and lawn grades for proper drainage. Indicate finished elevations with “F” or encapsulate.
- Assumed elevations can be used with “100” at the top of foundation and grade at road “+” or “-“. The USC& GS datum is preferred.
- Indicate top of foundation / finished floor elevation.
- Indicate location of swales and direction of flow.
- Indicate finished elevation and adjacent structures.
- Legal description of the property.
- Indicate any drainage easements, wetlands, or ditch right-of-way.
- Indicate erosion control plan.
- Indicate flood zone & FEMA panel number.
- Show any other easements on property.
- Include a symbol legend.
- Show north arrow and scale. (1:30) or appropriate scale
- Apply Land Surveyor seal, signature and date.
- Show the boundaries for silt fence (SF) and temporary stone driveway (3” to 6” stone).
- Show temporary construction entrance driveway dimension,
stone size ( 2" to 3 " coarse aggregates) and depth.
- All paper work submitted must be 8 ½” X 14”
- All streetlights must be functioning before a building permit is issued.
- All steet signs must be installed before a building permit is ssued.
- All outstanding invoices for engineering review services must be paid before a building permit can be issued.
